今年，联合国妇女署将以 “性别平等共创可持续未来” 为主题，在应对气候变化、减少环境与灾害风险的背景下，一起庆祝全世界妇女与女童为建设更可持续的未来所做的贡献，并呼吁各界认可妇女与女童在适应、减缓和应对气候变化中发挥的领导作用，促进女性更加平等地参与和领导采取有效的气候行动，进一步推动可持续发展与性别平等。
当地时间3月8日，联合国及联合国妇女署联合举行了纪念三八国际妇女节的视频会议。包括联合国秘书长古特雷斯、第75届联合国大会主席博兹克尔等出席了纪念活动。本次活动主题为“领导层中的女性”（Women in Leadership）。
